Announcements 10/14

  1. We would like to recognize the members of the GMS MathCounts team. Team members are: Ryan Turner, Eric Goddard, Maria McIntosh, Isabelle Burroughs, Christian Diaz, James Pelfrey, Gillian Setty, Chase Greek, and Kayla Smith. Congratulations to these Marvelous Mathletes of GMS!

  2. The first edition of the new student newspaper will be delivered on Monday. Newspaper staff will also meet Monday during lunch to discuss topics for the November edition.

  3. Mrs. Comer is collecting donations for an animal shelter in exchange for a ticket her Spooky After-School Event. See Mrs. Comer for more details.

  4. The "most wonderful time of the year" is right around the corner, and Graham Middle School will have opportunities to give back to others who may not find it so wonderful.

One opportunity is called Operation Christmas Child. This is a service project that provides shoe boxes filled with small items for children in third-world countries. The children in these countries are less fortunate than children here in the United States, especially during the holiday season.  We are asking you to collect and bring in the items to fill as many shoe boxes as we can!

The intervention that brings in the most items will win a pizza party and a "free" intervention period!  There is a box in your intervention classroom for the items you bring in to donate. Items should be new or gently-used.

Items that are acceptable: toys, dolls, musical instruments, clothes, shoes, school supplies, non-liquid hygiene items, crafts and much more.

Items that are not acceptable: used or damaged items, violence related items, chocolate or food, liquids or lotions, fruit rolls or fruit snacks, or anything breakable

***If you are not sure about an item, check the lists on the donation boxes or ask a teacher.

Operation Christmas Child will begin this Monday and end on Wednesday, November 9.  That is a little over three weeks for collecting items.

You may start bringing in items this Monday!

5. Good luck to the Cross Country teams who are competing at the CBC Championships tomorrow at Ben Logan!

6. Don’t forget, Monday starts our SPIRIT week. Mondays theme is “Pink Out” for breast cancer awareness.
